Mass Transport

For lightweighting, the use of Biotex Jute to replace CFM glass reinforcement has been shown to reduce both cost and weight, whilst significantly improving the NVH performance of interior panels on buses and trams. Biotex Jute can be processed in the same way as CFM under vacuum infusion or RTM.

Where fire-resistance is needed, Ecopreg PFA prepregs are designed to offer high mechanical and fire performance for mass transport applications, and are available in different weights to suit various applications. The materials offer a combination of light weight, high mechanical properties, excellent fire retardant properties and low environmental impact. The prepregs can be consolidated by vacuum bagging, autoclave or press moulding and are designed for a range of applications in mass transport. Importantly, the materials do not have the health risks associated with phenolic processing, as they have significantly redcued VOC emissions.
