Sustainable, natural fibre GT4 race car rear wing manufactured from Evopreg® ampliTex™
Ginetta is a British sports racing car company founded over 60 years ago, which today delivers excellent motorsport knowledge, state-of-the-art facilities in addition to the finest on-track action.
The Ginetta G56 GT4 is the latest generation of the homologated G55 range which raced on almost every continent of the world and is one of the most successful GT4 cars ever made. Homologated for the international stage, it is eligible for competition within a variety of global endurance and sprint racing series.
Motorsport demands high performance and lightweight materials. Historically, this has resulted in carbon fibre composites being the go-to choice.
Now though, new materials are emerging, which offer both enhanced performance and reduced environmental impact.
Driven by a combination of forthcoming regulatory changes and race teams increasing recognition of their own environmental policies, interest in these sustainable composites materials is growing rapidly. To this end, the rear wing on Ginetta’s G56 GTA can be optionally manufactured from Evopreg® ampliTex™ flax prepreg, giving improved environmental credentials without compromising on performance.
Evopreg® ampliTex™ prepregs combine Composites Evolution’s high-performance Evopreg® epoxy resin systems with Bcomp’s award-winning ampliTex™ flax reinforcements, to deliver a family of materials which offer outstanding performance for component applications.
John Stanton of Ginetta said, “the new rear wing is now the same weight as the Gen 1 carbon wing, is easier to laminate and significantly reduces assembly time – we are very happy with the results”.
